Measurement decides a lot in mental health: what gets funded, which programmes are judged to work, what counts as progress for a young person. It is also in a bit of a mess. Researchers sharing data with a single US archive have used more than 4,500 different scales, and much of what gets measured isn't what young people say matters to them.
Since our Cape Town convening in 2025, a small group of IAMHRF members and partners has been trying to work out where things get stuck. We kept coming back to the same three problems, and you'll see them used to group the list below. What surprised us was how many organisations are already working on pieces of this, often without knowing about each other. So we started writing them down.
This page is that list: 32 initiatives so far, most with a youth focus, shown on a map and in a table you can search. Each one has its own page with a link. It's a first draft and we know there are gaps, so if something is missing, please tell us.
We would like to hear about it. Fill this in and it will open an email to us in your own mail app, so you can read it over before sending. Nothing you type is stored on this page.
